The Grain Engine is the core component of Graindad, allowing for the real-time manipulation of audio. As audio is recorded, it can be simultaneously played back up to 64 times using grains. The organization and definition of these grains form the foundation of the engine’s functionality.

With Sugar Bytes Graindad VST Plugin 12 main parameters, the engine enables a wide variety of effects, including looping, stuttering, time stretching, pitch shifting, reversing, and harmonizing. Both playback and recording are vital to shaping the sound, with Graindad capable of syncing to your host clock or being triggered via MIDI. Additionally, it can dynamically start recording based on transients in the audio material.

Modulation Engine

Dry/Wet controls make it easy to blend effects, whether you want to introduce subtle filter sweeps or emphasize frequencies with a bandpass filter used as a peaking EQ.

The Harvester
The Harvester is a unique feature that modulates all 12 main controls simultaneously. The distance between the Harvester and parameter objects determines the modulation depth. These parameter objects feature “moons” that can either be recorded as automation or randomized to add layers of movement.
